I can use this in my content area with vocabulary and concepts that students maybe familiar with. I can have they write key words or concepts and have them tell about what know about them or what knowledge they can connect it to.

My Youtube Pick for Ratio and Proportions

I choose the video above that introduces ratios. This clip does a good job of introducing explaining ratios. The presenter does make one mistake in his presentation which is corrected. I think one of the major advantages of this video is that the students have a better have chance of getting a full explanation of a concept with less chance of being interrupted by their peers. This video allows the teacher to easily transition into the next phase in the lesson.

Instructional Strategies

Reading this article has given me tips on how to challenge my students and encourage critical thinking in my class. I have tried problem solving in my classroom, but I have been unsuccessful at getting my students to think critically of giving them the time they need to think critically.

Current Literature: A Call To Action: Where to Begin

The article put into prospective what is expected of me as a teacher. The article also helps me understand the roles of teacher, district, state, and federal levels.

KWL (know_Want to Know_Learn) Strategy

A KWL chart will come in handy for math class. For example if I want to introduce my class to the slope formula I can ask them what they know about graphing points or about the x-y coordinate plane. This will help them connect with some they already know and help the remember the new lesson. I like to think of it as connecting the dots.

1. Learn to teach in a diverse class room.
2. Do well in this course.
3. Learn how to help at risk students.
